Nova Masters Win 5 National Titles at 2013 USMS Short Course Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Nova Masters swimmers took home 5 Nationals Champion titles and 15 top 5 finishes at the recent US Masters Swimming Short Course Nationals held May 9-12 at the IUPUI Swim Center in Indianapolis, IN.

Gerard Von Hoffman led the gold medal tally with 3 first place finishes, a 4th and a 5th in the 55-59 age group. He swept the breaststroke events 50(28.76), 100(1:03.19), 200 (2:21.92), as well as 4th in the 100 IM (59.86) and 5th in the 200 IM (2:12.99).

Steve West, 40-44, took home two gold medals in the 100 Breast (56.05), & 200 Breast (2:02.00), along with 4 second place finishes, 50 Breast (25.90), 50 Free(22.16), 50 Fly (23.97), & 100 IM (53.07)

Scott Jackson, 35-39, took 4th place in the 100 Breast (1:04.66), 200 Breast (2:22.29), along with 7th in the 400 IM (4:4.46) & 200 IM (2:10.14), and 25th in the 100 Free (52.15)

With only three swimmers participating in the meet they still scored enough points to finish 18th in the Men’s Division with 127 points.

Nova Masters Finish 4th at 2013 SPMS SCY Championships

SANTA CLARITA, CA – Congratulations to the Nova Masters Swimmers who attended the SPMS Short Course Championships held April 25-27 at the Santa Clarita Swim Center.
Nova finished in 4th place in the final combined team standings behind 3 more local teams. Nova was the top placing team from Orange County.

Lexie passes under the Santa Tome Bridge in the Rio Corondo 57k in ARG.

Click the link below to see some highlights from the 2013 Rio Coronda 57k Marathon Swim race. The race was the second stop on the 2013 FINA Grand Prix Open Water Circuit. It is quite a spectacular event with thousands of fans along the course as well as following the race in “party boats” beating drums, cheering, cranking music, dressing up silly, etc.
Nova Masters swimmer Lexie Kelly is featured in the clips and finished 6th in the female division with a time of 9 hours and 32 minutes.

Lexie Kelly Finishes 6th at Rio Coronda Fina Grad Prix Open Water Race

SANTA FE, ARGENTINA – Lexie Kelly, 26, who swims for Nova Masters and Newport Beach Swim Team placed 6th ato ne of the most historic marathon swimming events. The Santa Fe to Coronda swim is a 57k race down the Rio Coronda River.

The race is followed by thousands of spectators on boats as well as on the shore throughout the course.
